US treasury inflation protected securities (TIPS) followed suit with Germany, Switzerland, and others; reaching sub-zero yields (-0.089%) on its 10 year bonds. This is the second time in history that US TIPS failed to beat the inflation rate. Keep in mind that negative yields are referring to negative real interest rates after accounting for inflation.
